This is the data behind our Space Tourism Price Index, published as a free, machine-readable dataset. It lists what every tracked operator charges per seat, sorted into tiers, alongside the price of reaching space from 2001 to today. Every figure carries a source and a date, and the file is regenerated whenever the underlying numbers move — so what you download is always current, not a snapshot.
This is a curated compilation: the prices themselves are public facts from the operators’ own disclosures and reporting, each carrying its own source. What we maintain — and what’s licensed here under CC BY 4.0, free to reuse with a link back — is the collection, standardization, dating, and upkeep of that information. We don’t claim to own the underlying numbers.
A single JSON object with a short header (name, publisher, license, currency, last-verified date) and three arrays:
operators — the 10 tracked operators, each with its tier, per-seat price, flight length, current flight status, the source it was verified against, and the verification date.tiers — the price bands (suborbital through Mars) with the experience each buys.price_history — the milestone prices for reaching space, 2001 to 2026, that drive the price-history chart. The dataset holds itself to a reporter’s standard: primary sources first (operators’ own disclosures and reservation pages), then top-tier reporting where an operator publishes no fixed fare; at least two independent sources to flip a flight status; and lunar/Mars figures labeled as projections, never quotes. The full standard is on our how we source pricing page, and every row links to its own source on the Price Index.
The file is rebuilt from the same source of truth as the Price Index on every deploy, so its last-verified date tracks the data, not the calendar. As of the latest update the data was last verified in July 2026. For the live operator status board and the price-history chart, see the Price Index itself.
